Mindfulness-Based Therapy
While I’ve practiced a few different kinds of therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive, Narrative, and Solution-focused therapy, I find that Mindfulness Therapy and Mindlfulness-based Therapy techniques are ones that I keep returning to most frequently. There are a few therapy techniques that have a strong mindfulness component, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Self-Compassion work. It is from our expanding awareness of different aspects of ourselves and using a mindfulness-based approach, that we can navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, pain and other physical symptoms, relationships issues, low self-esteem, and identity exploration.
I also think the mindfulness approach fits for me as a therapist, because I think that it is best to teach what I also practice. Mindfulness allows me to be a centered, supportive, and collaborative therapist, which are all important values for me.
